I have always said that the best people in this wacky world of ours are either from, or spent a whole lot of time in the fine province of Saskatchewan…. Back in August, while living in toronto, I woke up very unhappy one day….I said to myself, where was my life it’s happiest, and without any hesitation, that was here in the best place on the planet….Saskatchewan.
I wasn’t born here, I was born in Toronto and grew up in Calgary. But my first job in broadcasting was at Chab Radio in Moose Jaw and I also spent 8 wonderful years in Regina working as a sportscaster at STV Regina, now Global Television. I have spent the last 23 years as a broadcaster in radio and television…but have also been around the business, professional and amateur athletes.
Since I was just a wee little lad as my older brother Jeff is also a sports broadcaster. He is the current voice of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets. The best moments of my career thus far have been spent covering the Edmonton Oilers for two of their five Stanley Cups in the 80’s and having the opportunity to do a half hour football show with the late great commedian John Candy.
The most important things in my life are marvelous mare and my little hairy girl. My dog is a border collie and she is named after her Daddy’s favorite hockey team….her name is Leaf. I am loving every minute of my time in Yorkton and can’t wait for the nice weather to arrive. If you see leaf and I out and about this spring and summer… Please do say hello. |
